News We focus a lot on leadership
Meet Anette Odqvist, the HR manager at Skandia Elevator. She has solid experience, from studying the Human Resources and Labour Relations Programme at Växjö University to working as human resources manager at several different companies. For the last few years she’s been supporting the managers at Skandia Elevator in their daily quest to become good leaders.
Hi Anette! How do you like working at Skandia Elevator?
– I think Skandia Elevator is an amazing company to work for. A lot of it is due to the culture here where the owners value the employees in a way that makes it easier for me to work with HR. We invest in our employees and view them as a crucial part of the company’s development.
Tell us about a typical workday for you.
– In addition to holding interviews and hiring, I work with various types of work environment issues and risk assessments. A very important part for me is also to support the managers in their work. We focus a lot on leadership. Since the leaders are the ones that meet their employees daily, they have the opportunity to develop their teams and the company culture along with their staff. Working together is what brings the company forward.
How do you work with leadership?
– We have started a new project where a group of managers from different parts of the business are developing a leadership platform, creating a profile for successful behaviors as a leader. What is a good leader at Skandia Elevator? And how can we make it easier to become one? When we first presented this, all the leaders thought it was a good idea.
What personal qualities are Skandia Elevator looking for?
– Our values are PIA, which in Swedish stands for “positive, innovative and responsible”. Positive is about having a positive attitude, noticing and appreciating each other. Innovative is about thinking of new ideas, being brave and willing to change. Responsible is being professional and taking responsibility for our work. And then something that applies to everyone, regardless of position, is that you should be down to earth and humble. Then you will fit in and really enjoy working here!
