News We try to push the boundaries in our industry

As Product Manager at Skandia Elevator, Malin Heder develops digital solutions to help farmers get the most out of their facilities. She says it’s an exciting industry where a lot is happening, so it’s fun to be a part of the journey and come up with new innovative solutions.

Hi Malin! How do you like working at Skandia Elevator?
– It’s very fun and stimulating! I’ve worked in product development for the eleven years I’ve been here and I like that we try to push the boundaries of our industry by developing new solutions. We don’t stop at what we already know, we always want to learn more and build on that. As a workplace, it is very safe and warm. We all get opportunities to grow as individuals and develop skills within our professions.

What do you do as Product Manager for Grain Cloud?
– Grain Cloud is one of Skandia Elevator’s two business areas and as Product Manager I’m responsible for the product portfolio and things related to it. It’s about everything from management and operations to strategy and development. Grain Cloud is a tool to learn more about your farm and what happens to your grain. It creates good conditions to help develop your business in the best way in various respects, such as operation and maintenance.

Tell us about the journey from idea to finished product.
– Since we work with innovation within the Grain Cloud business area, there’s not always clear frameworks and prerequisites. First, we find out what challenges today’s farmers face. Based on that, we create solutions that we verify in various ways ourselves and with the customers through sketches and prototypes to create something that adds value to the farmers. Some solutions feel great right away, while some need to be further developed to really capture those needs.

How do you think the future of the industry looks?
– I think there will be higher demands for flexible and integrated solutions for farmers. They need to be able to grow with their facilities and have remote visibility so they’re not always physically tied to it. The requirements for traceability are also increasing. For example, with skyrocketing electricity prices, it’s important to know how much energy it takes to dry your grain. Through Grain Cloud, we contribute knowledge so that the farmer can make the right decision.
